Spring is the season of renewal which makes it the perfect time to refresh your home and create a clean, organized space that supports YOU! A clutter-free home not only looks better, but also helps clear the mental clutter too.
This is the ultimate guide where I'll share simple yet effective ways to refresh your home, organize each space, and embrace the fresh start that spring brings!

Step 1: Start with a Plan!
Before diving head first into decluttering and organizing, create a plan! Go room by room and identify the areas that need attention. Take it one step further and break tasks into manageable steps - I'm talking 15-30 minute increments - to prevent feeling overwhelmed. Here are some great ways to start:
Make a checklist of cleaning tasks for each space.
Gather necessary supplies like cleaning products, storage bins, donation bags, and trash bags.
Set a timeline to stay on track and keep yourself accountable. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day!
Step 2: Declutter & Simplify Your Space
I think we can all agree that decluttering is the key to a fresh, open, and organized home. My favorite method when tackling cluttered spaces is the "keep, donate, toss" method. This straightforward system helps eliminate decision paralysis and ensures a clutter-free, organized space in no time.
What exactly is the "Keep, Donate, Toss" method? Here's how it works:
As you go through each item in your space, ask yourself: Do I use this regularly? Does it serve a purpose or bring me joy?
If the answer is YES, it belongs in the KEEP pile.
If it's in good condition, but no longer needed, place it in the DONATE pile and give it a new home.
Anything that's broken, expired, or beyond use goes in the TOSS pile.

Here are some key focus areas for decluttering that make a world of difference when it comes to an open and organized home:
Closets: Pack away all winter clothes and donate the items you no longer wear
Kitchen: Get in the pantry and purge those expired goods, unused tupperware containers, and broken kitchen gadgets
Bathrooms: Throw away all expired skincare, makeup and medicine
Living Rooms: Organize books, throw away old magazines, refresh decor
Garage/Basement: Toss out old / broken tools, sort through seasonal items, get rid of unused sports equipment, and toss old potting soil, extra paint, old appliance boxes, etc.
Step 3: Refresh Home Decor
I can't lie, this might be one of my favorite parts of decluttering! Now that you've successfully conquered the challenging decluttering phase, it's time to refresh the look and feel of your newly clutter-free home. With spring coming, it's the perfect time to bring out those colorful pillows, faux flowers, and spring greenery. These seemingly small updates can make a big impact on how our space feels, but most importantly how it makes US feel!
These are some of my favorite ways to quickly refresh your home:
Swap out heavy winter textiles for lighter fabrics - think linen curtains or cotton throw blankets
Add pops of color with flowers, bright area rugs, or pillows
Rearrange furniture to create a new flow and maximize natural light
Take out those spring scented candles and light them up to bring in fresh, welcoming scents!
Step 4: Organize for Functionality
I'm sure you already know this by now, but a well-organized home saves time and reduces stress. Some of my favorite and cost effective organization tips are:
Use Storage Bins & Baskets: keep the like-items together and label them for easy access
Maximize Vertical Space: install shelves or use hanging organizers for extra storage space in closets
Create a Daily Reset Routine: set a 10-15 minute timer daily to tidy up to keep things in order. Your future self will thank you.
Rotate Seasonal Items: store winter gear away for next year and make spring / summer essentials more accessible.
If you're ready to declutter, refresh, and create a more organized home, now is the perfect time. Let's work together to transform your space and bring balance to your chaos. Schedule a spring organization session and step into the new season feeling clear, refreshed and in control!
